maybe you could bring your front foot closer to the other one, for now by an amount of the width of your foot not to lose from balance too much.

bending front ankle needs to be a little bit more natural. In those videos where we see the outer side of the front foot sticking and dragging the board are not meeting the board surface just because the skaters bend their ankles but also because the board is highly inclined upwards. Even you don’t bend your ankle that much, the board would follow the outer side of your front foot if its front is properly lifted upon popping the tail.
